0.5K for United Way planned for Aug. 14
This is the 5K that everyone has been waiting for. No running and no sweating allowed. The United Way of Coshocton County is sponsoring a 0.5k fundraiser on Saturday, Aug. 14th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will take place at the Warehouse Steak n’ Stein in Roscoe Village.
“We decided to do this because there hadn’t ever been this kind of race in Coshocton. The Taste of Coshocton has been our kickoff for 14 years, but when the pandemic hit, we were forced to come up with something we could socially distance more easily. We may go back to the Taste of Coshocton, but the board will wait to see next year,” said Lyn Mizer, executive director of the United Way.
Participants are encouraged to dress up in costumes. Prizes will be awarded for the best costume, biggest team, youngest and oldest participants, just to name a few. The cost is $25 per person and includes a free lunch on the patio of the Warehouse Steak n’ Stein. Those registered by July 29 will receive a free t-shirt. “We would like people to register ahead of time, but they can come that morning and register,” said Mizer.
United Way Board President Steve Oster said, “We wanted to get the community involved in a fun event that would not take much time, but that they could have a great time participating in. The money will help United Way to be able to fund so many agencies that provide services to people in Coshocton County. Any age can participate and we hope to build on this event year after year.”
