Coshocton Foundation awards grants
The distribution committee of the Coshocton Foundation had its second meeting of fiscal year 2022 recently and reviewed 22 grant applications totaling $778,047. The committee awarded nine grants totaling $150,325, to numerous community organizations. The grants awarded include:
- $50,000 to Kids America, Inc. to provide support for their parking lot project, as they seek to add 64 spaces due to successful, and oftentimes concurrent, events plus popular regularly scheduled programs
- $40,275 to the Coshocton County Commissioners for an electrical upgrade at the court square to supply Main and Fourth streets with electric power for festivals and concerts
- $35,000 to Coshocton County Drug & Alcohol Council, Inc. to assist with portions of their new Sixth Street entry/additional parking project
- $11,000 to Coshocton City & County Park District to create an 18-hole disc golf course at the former Hilltop Golf Course
- $5,000 to the United Way of Coshocton County, Inc. to provide support for the literacy program, the Dolly Parton Imagination Library
- $4,000 to Walhonding Valley Fire District to assist in the purchase of a swift water rescue boat to specialize in swift water rescue operations
- $2,500 to River View Local School District to assist with the cost of restoring the Steinway Grand Piano for the auditorium stage
- $2,000 to Humane Animal Treatment Association to assist with the purchase and installation of air conditioning at the cat shelter
- $550 to Fellowship of Christian Athletes to assist with the purchase of sound equipment, including wireless microphones, a wireless router and extra cables for microphones and instruments used in FCA’s UNITE events
The Coshocton Foundation was established in 1966 through the Last Will and Testament of local merchant Adolph Golden and has distributed more than $8.7 million in grants to community organizations from its unrestricted fund. In addition, the foundation has 175 restricted funds from which distributions are made for specific purposes.
