James A. ‘Jim’ Maxson Jr.
James A. “Jim” Maxson Jr., passed away on February 24, 2023.
On March 8, 1955, he was born to the late Jim and Leah (Garrison) Maxson. Jim graduated from Newcomerstown High School. on December 19, 1976, he married the love of his life Dorothy (Bowser) Maxson, they recently celebrated 46 years of marriage. Jim grew up in southern Ohio, around the Clarksburg/Chillicothe areas.
He worked alongside his father in the old L&K restaurants as a cook. From there he went on to drive truck for several years and then worked on Snyder Horse Farm. In September 1987 he started at Stone Container Paper Mill in Coshocton (Rock Tenn), from where he retired from in 2015. Jim loved his family with everything he had. He and his wife loved to take day trips and going out to dinner especially at the Texas Roadhouse. Jim also loved fishing, being on a boat, playing cards with family, and just making special memories. He loved being outside working on cars and helping build things. If there was something that needed done it was done right. He lived by the saying “if you are on time your late” so he was always at least an hour early to everything. His grandbabies were a special light of his life and he made sure to spoil them rotten.
Along with his wife, Jim is survived by his children, Daniel (Cara) Maxson of Coshocton and Ashley (Jason) Hollins of West Lafayette; grandchildren Devyn, Avyn, Leigha, Curtis, Hailey, Sammy, and Becca; a sister Jodi Fout of Sarasota, Florida; sisters in law Kathy (Chuck) Stringer, Christine Haven (Danny Peoples) and Mary St.John all of Newcomerstown; aunts Ruth Long of Circleville and Donna (Larry) Ball of Hillard as well as numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Jim was preceded in death by his infant sister Jill; his brother Tony Maxson; his niece Shelly Caldwell; his great nephew Jayden; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; his brothers in law Marvin Fout, Ed Bowser, Randy St. John, Dave Haven, Bud Bowser, and Steve Bowser.
Friends may call at the Living Faith Church of the Nazarene, 21066 SR 751, West Lafayette, Ohio on Wednesday March 1, 2023, from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM where funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM with Pastor James Lillo officiating.
A cremation will take place after the funeral services.
The family of Jim would like to thank Interim Hospice for their services.
