130th anniversary of Tyndall Church to be celebrated
Tyndall United Methodist Church was built in 1892 and the building is celebrating its 130th anniversary with an open house and concert on Sunday, Aug. 7 at 4 p.m.
In 2021, Mission 3:16 purchased the building from the United Methodist Church and completely renovated it. According to Sheldon Mender, the group used the building for several events last year and began the massive renovation project in early January 2022. The renovation is now complete and they want to show off the beauty of the building.
“The open house will start at 4 p.m. and we will have hot dogs, chips and drinks,” Mencer said. “The concert will start at 6 p.m. and will be our trio – Mencer, White and Cheney. The concert will last about an hour, maybe an hour and 15 minutes. Everything is free, but we will be accepting donations to help cover the cost of the renovation. We just really want people to come and see the church. I think anyone who knows what it looked like before will be really surprised and happy at how it looks now.”
The open house will kick off a series of events that will continue monthly through the rest of the year.
The church’s address is 18091 TR 284, Coshocton. Mencer said signs will be posted. At press time, visitors traveling west from Coshocton can enter Tyndall off of SR 16. Others will need to take detours. For more information about the church, the open house or directions to the church, text Mencer at 740-502-2125.
