15 month old in critical condition

On March 16, at 10:47 a.m., the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call in reference to a small child falling from a truck and being run over by another vehicle on CR 271 at Clow Lane.

Once on scene, an initial investigation showed that a pickup truck was heading south on CR 271 at Clow Lane when they attempted to pull left into a driveway and a 15 month old male was ejected from the rear passenger seat of the vehicle and landed in the south bound lane.  The truck was followed by a red jeep which was unable to avoid the child and ran over him.

The child was flown from the scene by MedFlight Helicopter to Akron Children’s Hospital where he is in critical condition.

Fransy Espinnoza Caballero

On March 17, 2020, the driver of the vehicle, Fransy Espinnoza Caballero, a 19-year-old man from Ruston, Louisiana, was formally charged with aggravated vehicular assault, a felony of the fourth degree. The child’s mother, Angel M. Simpson, a 23-year-old female from the Coshocton area, was formally charged with endangering children, a felony of the third degree.

Assisting on scene were Coshocton City Fire, Coshocton County EMS, MedFlight Helicopter and Prince’s Wrecker. This incident remains under investigation by your Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office.
