Accident involves bicycle and motor vehicle

COSHOCTON – At 6:49 a.m. on Nov. 1, the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office dispatch received a 911 call in reference to an accident with injuries involving a motor vehicle and a bicycle near 30443 SR. 643. Upon arrival of deputies, it was determined that a bicycle was being ridden by a 14-year-old juvenile, who was not wearing any type of reflective clothing or safety equipment.

The bicycle was traveling south in the south bound lane around a corner, when a vehicle being operated by a male from Sugarcreek, who was also traveling south, came around the corner, did not see the bicycle, and struck the juvenile. After initial treatment by EMS personnel, the juvenile was flown to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus.

The names of the individuals involved are being withheld pending notification of the families. Assisting deputies at the scene were the Coshocton County EMS, Swiss Valley EMS, Baltic Fire Department, Three Rivers Fire Department, and Med Flight. This accident remains under investigation by the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office.
