Chief Layton announces retirement
The City of Coshocton has received notice that Fire Chief Michael Layton will be retiring on April 30.
Chief Layton has served the citizens as a firefighter for 33 years and as chief of the Coshocton Fire Department since 2004. Under his leadership, the Coshocton Fire Department has made significant advancements, including with modernization of training, equipment, and facilities. His service to Coshocton is much appreciated.
The process for selection of a new fire chief will begin shortly and is governed by Civil Service procedures. This process will take up to 120 days to complete. Because of the time and notification requirements involved, Captain Rick Mills will be named acting fire chief on Saturday, May 1.
