Newcomerstown museums to have open house

Newcomerstown Historical Society announces the 2021 opening of the Olde Main Street Museum and Social Center along with the Temperance Tavern Museum.
The museums are located at 221 and 213 West Canal Street in Newcomerstown and cookies and refreshments will be served. The opening is on Saturday, June 19 with an open house from noon to 4 p.m. Tours of both museums will be free to the public and will highlight two of the latest exhibits. These exhibits include the “Henry C Wolfe” room and the latest acquisition of the historical society, “The Bloody Bible” as featured in the book by Alanzo Green; “The Tales of the Buckeye Hills.” Living Historian Chris Hart has performed at the museum based on the story of “The Bloody Bible.”
The gift shop at the Olde Main Street was recently refurbished and under the management of Karen Shepherd and will be open as part of the open house. All future tours of the museum will be by appointment only and visitors can call 740-498-7735 to make arrangements to tour.
