Shooting suspect taken into custody

On May 26, 2021 at approximately 7:34 p.m. officers were dispatched to Coshocton Regional Medical Center in reference to a male with a gunshot wound. The shooting victim was identified as 36-year-old James A. Murray of Coshocton. During the initial investigation, officers learned that the shooting took place in the 900 block of Chestnut Street.

Detectives arrived on scene and began their investigation by speaking with witnesses and processing the crime scene. Detectives learned during the course of the investigation, the suspect fled on foot toward the Red Sea area. Officers canvased the area with the Coshocton County K-9 Units and were assisted by the West Lafayette Police Department’s K-9 Unit.

A few hours later, the suspect of the shooting was taken into custody without incident. Assisting with this investigation is the Coshocton County Prosecutors Office, West Lafayette Police Department, Lonestar Fire Protection and Security and Princes Wrecker Service. This case will be forwarded to the Coshocton County Prosecutors Office for review and the name of the suspect will not be released until formal charges are filed. This incident remains under investigation by the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office.

On May 27, Isaac M. Beichler, 21, was charged with Felonious Assault, a second degree felony.
