Coshocton names Forbes interim athletic director
Coshocton City School announced that Gary Forbes will become the new interim athletic director for the 2021-22 school year.
Forbes has coached football at all levels since 1983, as well as track and field for seven years. He has also served in leadership roles with the Coshocton Football Boosters and started the football mentoring program for senior players called The Chiefs of the Redskins in 1998. In 1999, Forbes instituted the time-honored tradition of the senior walk program at Stewart Field after the final home game for all senior football players, cheerleaders, and band members.
“Coshocton City Schools is excited to have Gary Forbes on board and we look forward to his contributions and leadership in our athletic programs. Gary is well known in the Coshocton community, and he will continue to build relationships with our student-athletes, our coaches, and our families. His tenure as a coach and his involvement in athletics over the past several decades will be a tremendous asset to our district,” said Superintendent Dr. David Hire.
Forbes was approved by the board of education at the June 3 meeting. He replaces Tim Fortney who took the athletic director position at New Philadelphia City Schools. Fortney had been the athletic director at Coshocton City Schools for the past seven years.
