William Wayne Wilson, 95, of Coshocton, died at 8:40 p.m. Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Oak Pointe Care Center in Baltic, Ohio.

He was born on Dec. 14, 1925, in Coshocton County to the late William and Cora (Cox) Wilson.

He was a 1943 graduate of Coshocton High School.

On March 8, 1947, he married Elizabeth B. (Bodnar) Wilson whom preceded him in death on Sept. 13, 2002.

William was a former employee at the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Department as a Sgt., G.E. and co-owned Wilson Welding, along with his wife, where he was a welder. He was also a Sgt. in the Army during WWII.

He was an avid member of the NRA and one of the founders of the Coshocton County Sportsman’s Club.

William is survived by his son Melvin W. (Carol) Wilson of Coshocton; five daughters, Leanna J. Wilson of West Lafayette, Linda S. (Stephen) Cox of Bremen, Lisa M. Carnes of WA, Lora G. Smith of Warsaw and Lydia L (Paul) Knapp of Kimbolton; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Nolan, Robert, and Cornelius Wilson.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen Roof and a brother-in-law, Tom Smith.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 1, 2021, at Free Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Jones officiating. Burial will be at Fairfield Cemetery, West Lafayette.

Calling hours will be from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday, prior to services at Free Funeral Home.
