Albert R. Haines
Albert Raymond “Po” Haines, 78, died suddenly Wednesday, June 30, 2021.
He was born April 28, 1943 in Warsaw to the late Corbin and Bessie (Giauque) Haines. Albert was a lifetime farmer but “tinkered”, as he would say, with other little side jobs. He was a trustee for Tiverton Township for many years. He recently told about walking three miles to Tiverton during the Blizzard of 1978 while only holding onto the top of fenceposts as guides. He loved being a trustee and knew he had to start clearing the roads. Albert also drove for the Warsaw Emergency Squad during the late ’80s and ’90s. He was a member of Brinkhaven Church of Christ. Albert married the late Betty (Hoberg) Haines on Dec. 26, 1963, who preceded him in death on Jan. 4, 2009. Dad had a great love of animals and enjoyed them daily on the farm that he and his family built since 1968.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Franklin, Clyde, Gerald, and Larry; and many aunts, uncles, and other family. He is survived by a daughter, Sallie (Rusty) Gates; a son, Lynn Hoberg (Deb) Haines, and family, including granddaughter, Gabriella “Gabi” MaeLynn Haines; a step-granddaughter, Kathy (DJ) Luna and family including step-great grandsons, Brandon, Bradon, Collyn and Kamden. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Janet Haines Aronholt, Deanne Haines, and Patty Hoberg; nephews, Franklin Jr. Haines and family, Rick (Billie Jo) Haines and family, Randy (Kim) Haines, Tracy (Beth) Haines and family, Scott (Liz) Haines and family, Larry (Crystal) Haines and family, James Allen (Shelly) Hoberg and family; nieces, Tina Carpenter and family, Duanne Patton and family, Mary (Eric) Hagans and family, Patty Sue (John D.) Hineman and family; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a special friend, Bernie Morrison of Warsaw. He will be missed by his fur babies; Bella “Lou Lou”, Baby Bear, Blue Chip Cookie, Ginger Snap and his five little “knuckle biter” kittens.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw, with Pastors Ron Davis & Ken Smailes officiating. Burial will follow in Tiverton Cemetery.
