Preston Ensign Palmer Sr.

Preston Ensign Palmer Sr., 80, of Coshocton, passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021. He was born on Oct. 27, 1940 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts to the late Dexter Sr. and Anne Elizabeth (Clark) Palmer. After graduating from Sarasota High School in 1957, Preston joined the United States Army, serving his country proudly. On July 20, 1958, he married Nina (Smith) Palmer who preceded him in death in 1992.

He was a retired musician who played in the HIMS Band. They would play for local venues, church functions and nursing homes; and he would stay up all night picking a guitar with you talking about life and his love for the Lord. He was a member of the Coshocton Baptist Church, and cherished his church family. Preston never met a stranger; he was very intelligent, funny, and loving. He was truly the greatest man to walk this earth and will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends.

Preston is survived by his two children, Preston E. “Chip” Palmer Jr. of Coshocton and Ginger Savoie of Bradenton, Florida; six grandchildren, Aronn (Candis) Palmer, Christine (Shannon) Roberts, Paula Guthrie, Preston (Mallory) Palmer III, Charles (Leah) Palmer and Shannon Savoie; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Buster (Chris) Palmer and Terrie Schmucker both of Bradenton, Florida; and many nieces, nephews and cousins in Florida, North Carolina and Ohio.

Along with his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his son, Troy Palmer, grandson, Travis Savoie and sister, Alice Palmer.

Per Preston’s wishes, a cremation will take place with a memorial service being held at the Coshocton Baptist Church in Coshocton on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 11 a.m.
