The Anchor Church sharing exciting plans

| July 23, 2021

The Anchor Church, on West Pine Street in Coshocton, has purchased the former Habitat for Humanity Restore building and is also planning a community fun day.

Jordan Sharp, children’s ministry director, said they are planning on renovating the former Restore building. “The new roof should be finished soon and then the work inside can begin. We’ve already started cleaning up things inside.  How fast the renovation goes will depend on when funds become available.”

The plans for the building include a social hall to be used by the church and that can be rented out to the public, a food pantry and a room where someone who needs a place to stay for a night or two can sleep. “These are the main three things we are focusing on right now.”

The church is also holding a community fun day on from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 7 at the church. There will be carnival games, a bounce house and an inflatable obstacle course. “We are going to have raffles for adults and kids and cake walks. We are working on having live music, too. And local businesses donated a lot of items. We are so grateful for that.” Sharp said everything is free and that there will be a drawing for a scooter and a bike during their regular Sunday service on the Sunday, Aug. 8.

Food will be available, including hot dogs, chips, drinks and treats.

“We wanted to have a fun day for the community to let people know the church is there. We have a great kids program. Since COVID, some people are still hesitant to come out and we understand that. We just want people to know we are here and to come and meet us and have some fun.”

Sharp said everyone is invited to the church’s services on Sunday at 2 p.m. and on Thursday at 7 p.m.
