Catherine ‘Kitty’ (Kittle) Hess

Catherine “Kitty” (Kittle) Hess, age 92, departed this world on Saturday, August 7, 2021. She was born on April 2, 1929, in Sandyville, West Virginia to the late Troy P. and Olive (Showalter) Kittle.

Kitty graduated from Ripley High School in 1947 and then married the love of her life, Alonzo “Lonnie” Hess. They were married for 62 wonderful years before his passing in 2008.

She was a member of Isleta United Methodist Church and the Past Matron and 50 years member of the Ohio Eastern Stars. Kitty was an avid bowler, having received her 600 pin at Coshocton where she bowled for many years. She was a loving, caring, and giving mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.

Kitty is survived by her son, Thomas (Sandra) Hess of West Lafayette; seven grandchildren, Janet (Hunter) Anderson, Jerald (Alex) Hess, Bradley (Tammy) Hess, Amber (Joel) Wood, Kimberly Sue (Grahm) Jones, Bill Hess and James Hess; 12 great-grandchildren, Kaia, Jaxon and Owen Anderson; Braden, Brice and Blake Wood; Derek Grace, Hanna and Jacey Hess; Ella and Macey Jones; one great-great-grandson, Jax Grace; one sister, Maxine Staats and one brother, Rev. James (Nada) Kittle.

Along with her parents and husband, Kitty is preceded in death by her two sons, Ronald Hess and Jerry and daughter-in-law, Patricia Hess; three sisters, Marie Whitlock, Virginia Full and Charlotte Mace and four brothers, Lloyd, Russell, Bill and Rollin Kittle.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at 11:00 am at Fairfield Cemetery with Pastor Dan Eggan officiating.

Memorial donations may be made in Kitty’s name to Interim Hospice, 499 S. 2nd Street, Coshocton, Ohio 43812 or to Isleta United Methodist Church, 58608 CR 9, Newcomerstown, Ohio 43832.
