100% of COTC Radiologic Science Technology graduates pass certification exam
All of the 2021 graduates from the Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) radiologic science technology program passed the American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) certification exam on their first attempt. Faculty believe the 100% pass rate is a result of the education and one-on-one faculty attention students get at COTC.
ARRT is the world’s largest organization offering credentials in medical imaging, interventional procedures and radiation therapy. The organization certifies and registers technologists in 15 disciplines by overseeing and administering education, ethics and examination requirements. The radiology technology program was one of the first programs at COTC, and since its first graduating class in 1973 has achieved near perfection with all but one of its 650-plus graduates passing the ARRT certification exam on their first attempt.
The radiologic science technology program at COTC combines extensive classroom, laboratory and clinical learning situations to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely practice radiology. It is a two-year, five-semester program.
Radiologic technologists interact with patients to produce images which demonstrate the anatomy, physiology and pathology of the body. Medical diagnosis is highly dependent upon visualizing the inside of the body. This can be imaged in radiology by general, fluoroscopy, computed tomography (CT scan), resonance imaging (MRI) and nuclear medicine examinations. The radiological science technology program is accredited by The Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology.
COTC is a fully accredited, public college dedicated to providing high quality, accessible programs of technical education in response to current and emerging employment needs. COTC is the only technical college in Ohio operating four full-service campus locations: Newark, Coshocton, Knox and Pataskala.
