Coshocton Fun Zone holding haunted house

| September 8, 2021

Last year, a haunted house was set up in four days and the public enjoyed it. Mary Hook, from the Coshocton Fun Zone, said they’ve been planning for this year for a while and are eager to share it with the community.

“The one we did last year, we had a couple of adults who wouldn’t finish walking through it,” said Hook. “We didn’t advertise much – just on Facebook and by word of mouth and we had a pretty good turnout.”

The haunted house will have cubicles that feature different scenes. “We don’t know what the COVID restrictions will be by then, so we are setting it up to be socially distanced, just in case. The actors will not be allowed to move from their space and the public won’t be able to get near the actors.”

It will be held in the basement of the Coshocton Fun Zone on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings from Sept. 24 until the last weekend in October. Hours will be 7 p.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday and 6-9 p.m. on Sunday. “Last year, we had some people tell us they couldn’t come on weekends because they work, so we had a day through the week, too. We are planning on doing that again,” said Hook.

There is a “no touch” policy in place so anyone who ventures into the haunted house will not be grabbed by the actors.

“We are having a photo booth this year with different creatures in it that you can have your picture taken with. We try to keep friends and family together but limit how many people can go in at a time. We try to keep it around five to seven at a time.”

During the haunted house, the escape room will not be available at the Fun Zone, but they are hoping to have their game room with pool tables and arcade games open by then.

The cost of the haunted house is $15 per person. For more information, check the Coshocton Fun Zone Facebook page. Updates for dates and times will be posted there.
