Brooklyn, NY-based composer and sound designer John Atkinson will be in Coshocton to premiere a new work of electronic music on Saturday, Oct. 2.
His composition will be paired with a video projection by Coshocton-based artist Peter Wolfgang, and can be seen at the ArtPARK Oct. 2 from 8-9 p.m., with music likely to continue for anyone who wants to linger.
Atkinson composes and performs music that combines processed environmental recordings with voice and acoustic instruments, and also performs as a member of the band Aa (Big A, Little a).
Wolfgang has partnered with Atkinson to visualize his musical compositions in the past, most recently via a video projection entitled “Longing” screened at the Pomerene artPARK on the 20th anniversary of 9-11. A recording of “Longing” can be accessed at
pomerenearts.org.
“We couldn’t be more excited to have this artistic partnership performing in the artPARK. I’d characterize their work as mesmerizing and healing.” said Pomerene Center Artistic Director Anne Cornell. “We’re grateful to Peter Wolfgang for bringing his own creative energies back —and his friend John Atkinson — to Coshocton to premiere this new composition.”
The event is free of charge and open to the public.
