Elizabeth Charlotte Wisenburg, 92, passed away Sunday, Sept. 26, 2021, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

She was born May 17, 1929 in Coblenz, Germany to the late Felix Becker and Sophia (Augustine) Lane. In 1947, at the age of 18, Charlotte boarded the US Military Ship “SS Ernie Pyle” and made her way to America over a very treacherous high sea. Her stories of her life as a child in Germany during the war were heart wrenching to anyone who was privileged enough to hear them. Her first sight after arriving in America was the Statue of Liberty standing in New York Harbor. She knew her life was about to change. Shortly after arriving, she settled in Coshocton with her mother and stepfather, Walter Lane Sr. Coshocton was where she made her home for 74 years. In 1948, she married the late Clarence Eugene Wisenburg and together they raised five children.

Charlotte was employed by the former Pretty Products for many years, and also waitressed for Thomas’s Steakhouse and the Coshocton Country Club. She spent 24 years with her special companion, Jack Cline, who passed away in 2002. They enjoyed traveling and sight-seeing together.

Charlotte will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Fly high and be at peace, our beautiful mother!

She is survived by two daughters, Susie (Jeff) Shaw-Dickerson of Coshocton, and Shirley (Mark) McDonald of Sunnyside, UT; three sons, Greg Wisenburg of Coshocton, Terry (Sherilyn) Wisenburg of Coshocton, and Mike (Linda) Wisenburg of Vincent; her grandchildren, Jessy Shaw, Kaylee Andrews, Kodi Lindst, Jeff McDonald, Markie Collins, Jennifer McDonald, Jennifer Corbi, and Michael, Troy, Craig, & Shane Wisenburg.

In addition to her parents, husband, and companion, she was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Firman; and a brother, Walter Lane.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, 2021 at Franklin Cemetery. The Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw is handling arrangements.

Memorial donations are suggested to the Coshocton Co. Animal Shelter, 27610 TR 45 Warsaw, OH 43844.
