Schumaker Farms will be hosting its annual hayrides to the pumpkin patch from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. each Saturday and Sunday, beginning Oct. 2, continuing through Oct. 31, (weather permitting). Contact ahead for information on group reservations during the week.

There are fun activities for the entire family. You may enjoy a hayride to the pumpkin patch, maneuver straw and corn mazes, interact with the animals, slide down a giant slide, play on the pounce pad and ride the zip line.

The adults will enjoy shopping for fall decorations of mums, pumpkins, gourds, corn shocks, straw bales, Indian corn, and more. Purchase homegrown tomatoes, apple cider, and some delicious homemade cookies, including the famous pumpkin cookies.

Store hours are Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. McGarvey’s Backwoodz BBQ Food Truck will be on the farm, so come hungry.

Admission to the hayrides and activities is $8 per person (ages two years and under are admitted free). Pumpkins are 35¢ per pound.

Schumaker Farms has been family-owned since 1806. They were recognized in 1993 by what was then the Outstanding Ohio Century Farms Program and were presented the honor during the Ohio State Fair. The program collaborated with the ODA, Ohio’s Country Journal, and the Ohio Historical Society that has since transformed to include sesquicentennial and bicentennial farms.
