Lois Darlene (Bailey) Powell
Lois Darlene (Bailey) Powell, 90 of West Lafayette, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 3, 2021. She was born on May 21, 1931, in Dennison, Ohio to the late Fred and Pauline (Hite) Bailey.
After graduating from high school, Lois worked at JC Penny’s and made many of the beautiful window displays. She married Gerald “Joe” Powell on Oct. 13, 1951, and spent 39 wonderful years with him until his passing on Jan. 4, 1990.
Lois later worked for Yankee Wire in West Lafayette for 24 years before retiring. She attended Burt Ave. Wesleyan Church with her daughter for many years; she had a knack for decorating her home beautifully and always found just the right gift to give others. Lois enjoyed sewing, gardening, baking and making candy. She is loved by all her family and friends and will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her two children, Sharon Fox of Coshocton and Michael (JoDelle) Powell of Coshocton; grandchildren, Britney (Seth) Mullet, Lee (Tammy) Powell, and Stephan (Cindy) Fox; grandson-in-law, Chris Wilson of Coshocton; great-grandchildren, Kabe, Ava, Owen, Elora, Michael, Matthew, Zeke, Breanne, Austin and Alyssia; and one brother, Larry Lee Bailey.
Along with her parents and husband, Lois is preceded in death by her infant sister, Polly Jean Bailey, granddaughter, Jenny Wilson and great-grandson, Nathaniel Wilson.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021, at 10 a.m. at Fairfield Cemetery with Pastor Rod Uhlig officiating. Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home is serving the family.
