Janet Elaine Smith
Janet Elaine Smith passed away peacefully at the age of 80 on Sept. 30, 2021, after a brave, hard fought battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Janet was born to Leah and Russell Roberts on Oct. 21, 1940 and grew up the youngest of six children in Conesville. She was as a good friend to all who knew her and will be remembered for her kind and generous spirit. She was quick to give hugs, tell people how beautiful they were and how much she loved them.
Janet graduated in 1959 from Conesville High School. She then married Walter Smith on Aug. 20, 1960. Together they relocated to and lived in the Cuyahoga Falls, area for most of their lives. Janet made many friends while working for years at Zayre, Ames and Matco Tools. Her greatest joy in life was raising her son Steve, whose life was cut short by Muscular Dystrophy, they enjoyed music and attended many rock concerts at the Richfield Coliseum. Janet was an active, loving, and proud grandmother.
Janet is preceded in death by her son Steve, husband Walter and Siblings: Launa (Carl) Dawson, Marie (Loren) Knoff, James (Donna) Roberts, and Lois (Vernon) Peck. She is survived by her daughters, Danette (David) DiAntonio and Kelly (Michael) Livesay, her three grandchildren Rick (Orianna) DiAntonio, Eleni Livesay and Audrey Livesay, as well as her beloved brother Donald (Shirley) Roberts and numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
There will be a private family graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery. A celebration of life, with food and refreshment, will be held at St. George Fellowship Centre, 3204 Ridgewood Road, Fairlawn, OH 44333 on Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021 from 2-5 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association at www.MDA.org or the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank at www.akroncantonfoodbank.org.
