Mary R. Chase-Carey

Mary Ruth Chase-Carey, 65, died Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021, at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville.

She was born Sept. 12, 1956, in Millersburg, daughter of the late Robert J. and R. Alene (Courtright) Chase. She was a 1974 graduate of River View High School, a graduate of Bowling Green University, and earned her Master’s of Education from Ashland College. She taught at River View High School for many years, where she was active in leading many various clubs and organizations. She was a former principal at East Knox Schools prior to her retirement.

Mary enjoyed watching her sons and  grandchildren participate in sports activities and other functions. She was a regular attendee at different area churches, where she was involved in choir, Bible study, and other church functions.

She is survived by her sons, Matthew (Katie) Carey of Dresden, Nicholas (LeeAnne) Carey of Coshocton, Morgan (Hannah) Carey of Howard, and Micah “MJ” (Cassandra) Carey of Newark; five grandchildren, Keegan, Zoee, Lana, Lincoln, and Hallie Carey; also an aunt Betty Lillibridge; and many cousins.

Per Mary’s wishes, a private family graveside service will take place at South Lawn Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with her parents. The Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw is handling arrangements. www.fischerfuneralhome.com
