Write-On Writers announce winners

Coshocton’s Write-On Writers Guild’s third summer writing contest deadline for entries was Aug. 31.

Guild members who acted as judges were Rick and Debra Bailey, Gloria Drobnack, Sharon Hunter, Mary Ann Sherman, and Julie Dearyan.

Notifications were sent by Julie Dearyan, as were nice certificates to the winners.

Winners in the personal essay category were: First place – Margaret Lowe of Fresno, for her “Grandmother’s Root Cellar;” second place – Kathy Sullivan of Port Washington, for her “Church Music;” and third place – Catherine A. Adams of Beach City, for her “Bragging Rights.”

Winners in the nonfiction category were: First place – Kathleen Martin of New Philadelphia, for her “Guardian of Shenandoah Valley;” and second place – June Markley of West Lafayette, for her “Frenchie – A Bull’s Tail.”

Winners in the poetry category were: First place – Catherine A. Adams of Beach City, for her “Nature’s Symphony;” second place – Shelly Wassem of New Philadelphia, for her “Crazy as a Loon;” and third place – Helen Umphry of Fredericktown, for her “Crayfish Crawls.”
