Jerry R. Veigel

Jerry Raymond Veigel, 79, passed away Friday, Nov. 19, 2021, at Oak Pointe Nursing & Rehab in Baltic with family by his side.

He was born May 8, 1942, in Coshocton to the late Raymond and Katherine S. (Troendly) Veigel. He was a 1960 graduate of Warsaw High School, and served in the U.S. Army from 1964-1966.

Jerry loved talking to people. He never met a stranger. He also loved any kind of outside work. He was a salesman for the former Home Candy Co., a school bus driver for River View Local Schools, and worked for ODOT. He was a member of the Coshocton Church of the Nazarene.

He married Martha (Slaughter) Veigel of Coshocton on March 1, 1970, at the Conesville United Methodist Church. They have one son, Victor J. Veigel of Coshocton.

Jerry is also survived by a sister, Judy (Gerald) Finlay; nieces, Teresa (Marty) Berrey, Andrea (Steve) Finton, Marsha (David) Nash, Lesla Veigel, and Lisa (Matthew) Garcia; a nephew, Eric (Chelsea) Veigel; several great-nieces & great-nephews; and his special feline kitty, Hannah Marie.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Veigel; and his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Charles & Geneva Slaughter.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 28, 2021, at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw, Pastor Steve Ward officiated. Burial will take place at a later time in South Lawn Cemetery in Coshocton.
