Foothills Studio and Gallery opens in new location
After being located in the basement under Good Boy Bakery for about three years, Foothills Studio and Gallery has moved to a new location in Roscoe Village. It is now at 416 North Whitewoman St. The new location gives the gallery more room and more visibility in Roscoe.
There are five partners in the gallery – Jack Hunt, Lynn Fraelich, Melissa Maxwell, BJ Taylor and Carole Ann Hunt. They are all members of the Coshocton Art Guild. Along with their art, several local vendors have work on display for purchase.
Jack Hunt said, “Everything we have is from local artists. When people hear the word gallery, they often think everything will be expensive, but we have lots of reasonably priced art. There is something for everyone here.”
Hunt is a photographer/digital artist. “I’m known as the ‘barn guy.’ I like all barns – whichever I’m looking at is my favorite. Most of the barns I photograph are within 35 miles of home.” His wife gave him a camera for Christmas one year and he’s been focused on his art seriously for about 12 years.
Lynn Fraelich is a painter. “My mother was always encouraging to me about painting. When I retired about three years ago, I finally had more time to paint and had to relearn so much. I enjoy it. I’ll paint about anything but people.” Buildings and animals are favorite subjects of hers. “I’ve met several photographers online who let me paint from their photos and I appreciate that.”
The gallery is planning to offer classes again. It also offers a wide variety of art for sale. Some of the favorite pieces have been printed as postcards or small canvases and would make perfect gifts. Jewelry, paintings, and photographs are just some of what it available in the studio. There is often an artist in the studio who can be observed as he/she works.
The studio is open Monday – Thursday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Friday – Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. They will stay open later for special events in Roscoe Village, such as the upcoming Christmas candle lightings. Follow the gallery on Facebook for news of upcoming classes.
