Joan Unger

Joan Unger, 93, of Coshocton passed away at Mt. Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville on Monday, Dec. 13, 2021, with her family by her side.

Joan was born in Uhrichsville, Ohio on May 10, 1928, to the late Harry and Mary Etta (Wright) Petty. On Jan. 17, 1953, she married William E. Unger.

Joan and her husband were the former owners of Club 21/William E. Unger Army Navy Garrison #628 in Coshocton. Joan’s true passion was her faith in God and spending time with her family. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Coshocton for almost 70 years.

She is survived by her children, Joni (Dave) Warren of Catawba Island, OH, Tim (Gail) Unger of Fresno, Jayne (Cliff) Stephens of Brownstown, MI, Pam Eberwine, Annette (Sam) Appis, Tony Unger all of Coshocton, Tom (Shellie) Unger of Shelby, OH, Jana Everhart of Coshocton; 21 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her son-in-law, Mark Everhart; daughter-in-law, Jackie Unger; granddaughter, Kelsey Joan Unger; siblings, Mary Jane Cora, Ed Petty, Betty Lou Deibel and Bill Petty.

Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Sunday December 19, 2021, from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM.  A Christian Wake service will begin at 5:00 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Monday at 10:30 AM with Father Tom Gardner officiating.  Private family interment will follow at Coshocton County Memorial Gardens.

Joan’s family requests memorial contributions be directed to Sacred Heart School, 805 Main St., Coshocton, OH 43812; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
