RV swim team celebrates its seniors

River View swimming hosted Cambridge and Newark Catholic at the Janet Jones Mulligan Natatorium for senior night on Dec. 16. Senior swimmers that were honored were: Britton McCoy, Michaela White, Emily Williams, Marcos Barbe, Velasquez Bernardo, Coen Bible, Zachariah Phillips, and Cole Tatro.

The Black Bears swept the dual meet for both the girls and boys’ teams with the girls defeating Cambridge by a team score of 94-41, while the boys won 93-30, and the girls defeated Newark Catholic 77-65, with the boys winning with a score of 100-12.

In the girls’ relays, the 200 Medley of Michaela White, Britton McCoy, Ally Fischer, and Emily Williams (2:37.08), 200 Freestyle group of White, Cortney Bookless, Piper Andrews, and Fischer (2:21.05), and the 400 Free group of Andrews, Williams, McCoy, and White (5:30.91) all placed second. Individually, McCoy won the 200 Free (3:01.60) and was second in the 100 Breaststroke (1:38.94), Piper won the 50 Free (33.38), Fischer was second in the 200 Individual Medley (3:18.25) and the 100 Butterfly (1:34.67), White was second in the 400 Free (6:33.20), and Alexa Rodriguez was second in the 100 Backstroke (1:52.38).

Winning all three relays for the boys were the 200 Medley of Jamison Adams, Colin Addy, Jonathon Vu, and Marcos Barbe (2:17.79), the 200 Free of Zachariah Phillips, Jamal Watts, Cole Tatro, and Coen Bible (1:47.23), and the 400 Free group of Phillips, Watts, Tatro, and Bible (4:10.02).

In boys’ individual events, Tatro won both the 200 IM (2:32.60) and the 100 Fly (1:06.70), Vu won both the 200 Free (2:42.20) and the 400 Free (5:48.18), Phillips was first in the 100 Back (1:13.31) and second in the 50 Free (26.68), Bible won the 100 Free (59.69), Bernardo won the 100 Breast (1:48.12), Barbe was second in the 200 Free (3:08.40), Addy was second in the 10 Fly (1:22.30), and Anthony Morgan was second in the 100 Back (1:55.71).
