Richard R. ‘Dick’ Berg

Richard R. “Dick” Berg, 73, of Coshocton passed away at Wexner Medical Center on Monday, Dec. 27, 2021.

Dick was born in Milwaukee, WI on Aug. 21, 1948, to the late Ralph C. and Marion (Schroeder) Berg. He graduated from Lima Shawnee High School and played football at Purdue University where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Management. Dick moved to Coshocton in 1970 and began his career at Pretty Products Inc. in Coshocton. He started as a Junior Industrial Engineer and retired after almost 40 years as Vice President of Manufacturing. Dick was the last man out when Pretty Products closed its doors.

Dick was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He was very active in our community serving on multiple boards including Hopewell Industries Board from 1975-1988 and 10 years on the MR/DD board. Dick was still serving on the Coshocton Foundation Board where he was the Chairman of the Distribution Committee and on the Board of Directors for Home Loan Savings Bank for the past 14 years.

He had a passion for playing golf, especially with his wife Francie. Dick treasured spending time with his two sons and grandchildren, as well as supporting their sports activities and coaching.

Dick is survived by his wife of 49 years, Marian F. “Francie” Berg whom he married July 22, 1972; two sons, Brian (Kimberly) Berg of Houston, TX and Barry Berg of Sterling, VA; two grandchildren, Jason and Jillian Berg; two brothers, Douglas (Harriett) Berg of Hidden Valley, PA and Donald Berg of Minneapolis, MN; several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Dick is preceded in death by his father-and mother-in-law, Frank O. and Marian Gilfilen; and sister-in-law, Rita (Ebersole) Berg.

Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2021 from 5-7 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday.  Funeral services for Dick will be held at the funeral home on Friday, Dec. 31, 2021, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dairel Kaiser officiating. Interment will follow in Coshocton County Memory Gardens.
