Black Bear bowlers compete at Dover Invite

On Jan. 15 the River View girls bowling team travelled to Wabash Lanes for the Dover Invite.

The Lady Bears battled to become the 2022 Dover Invite Champions. After qualifying the Lady Bears were seeded number two and after knocking off Minerva 2-1 in the semi-finals and then met up with the New Philadelphia Lady Quakers in the finals. River View swept the finals 2-0 for the championship.

Leading the way for the Lady Bears was freshman Maeve Gentile with games of 187, 204 and 187 for a 578 (personal record) series and a third place finish in singles was junior Emma Ward with games of 187, 136 and 134 for a 457 series and senior Benni Winland with games of 149, 129 and 171 for a 449 series.

The Lady Bears bowled great in bakers qualifying and bakers finals. Bowling bakers was Ward, Gentile, Winland, Saylor Starkey, Joni Winland, Rebecca Durben and Vivian Heddleson.

Leading the way for the boys at the invite was: Cam Collopy with a 670 series and finishing second in the tournament. Also making the all-tournament team was TJ Crosby with a 10th place finish with a 588. The Black Bears lead the tournament after two games and finished in fourth place.
