Clark resigns from school board
The Coshocton City Schools Board of Education seeks applicants to fill the unexpired term of board member Stephen Clark who resigned Jan. 15, 2022.
The board will begin interviewing candidates soon and must name a replacement within 30 days of the resignation. The newly appointed member will serve until Dec. 31, 2023. If the appointed member desires to continue serving, he or she must run in the next regular board of education election, which is November 2023.
Clark was first appointed to the board in January 2014 to serve the unexpired term of Don Hutchins. He also successfully ran for election in November 2015 and November 2019, serving a total of eight years. Clark is resigning for personal reasons.
“Steve Clark has dedicated eight years to the Coshocton City School Board, serving on various committees and being a valuable voice for the community. I do believe Steve will help the district in other ways and we are grateful to have people like that in our community,” said Phil Hunt, board president. Superintendent David Hire said, “Mr. Clark was a hard working board member and he volunteered many, many hours to help the district. He was very generous with his time, especially to drive a bus or to fill in as our school resource officer when needed. The district will be forever grateful for his unselfish service and his dedication. He was a first rate board member and an even better person.”
Those interested in serving on the Coshocton City Schools Board of Education should contact Lelonie Sanders, administrative assistant, for an application. Applications will also be available on the district website at www.coshoctoncityschools.com under Menu – Board of Education Documents.
According to Ohio law, people serving on Ohio school boards must be at least 18 years old, district residents and registered voters.
The board of education will accept applications until noon on Friday, Ja. 28 at the board office. The board plans to review the applications in early February and schedule potential interviews with prospective candidates. The replacement will be named at a special meeting announced at a later date.
