RVHS swimmers qualify for districts

On Feb. 12, River View High School swimmers competed in their sectional tournament meet at Steubenville High School. The Black Bears won four of the 22 events, and had 10 swimmers who advanced to the east/southeast state qualifying district meet at The Ohio State University.

Winners in the boys’ events included the 200 medley relay (1:45.87) and the 200 freestyle relay (1:32.73) group of Coen Bible, Zachariah Phillips, Cole Tatro, and Jamal Watts, Collin Addy in the 50 free (23.15), and Coen Bible in the 100 free (52.39).

Qualifying boys results also include a second place finish by the 400 free relay of Tatro, Bible, Watts, and Jonathon Vu (3:31.28), a third place finish from Watts (23.42) and seventh place from Phillips (23.69) in the 50 free, second place from Tatro (56.33), and third place from Addy (58.87) in the 100 butterfly, third place by Phillips (1:07.72) in the 100 breaststroke, and 10th place in both the 100 fly (1:03.61) and the 500 free (6:00.96) by Vu.

The girls who advanced for the Black Bears include the ninth place 400 free relay group of Emily Williams, Michaela White, Britton McCoy, and Ally Fischer (4:29.99). Fischer also qualified in the 100 fly by placing fifth (1:11.41).
