Sheriff’s office responds to several water rescues
The Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office was very busy with water rescues on Feb. 17.
At approximately 8:28 p.m. a 911 call was received of a vehicle in the flood water at SR 93 and CR 2, in White Eyes Township.
Upon arrival of deputies, it was determined that there were two occupants in the vehicle. Both occupants were rescued without incident and reported no injuries. SR 93 was shut down during the rescue and remained so after due to the level of flooding.
Assisting on scene were West Lafayette Fire Company and Coshocton County EMS.
At approximately 8:54 p.m. the sheriff’s office received a 911 call in reference to a vehicle in the flood water with an occupant inside at SR 83 and CR 1, in Keene Township.
Upon arrival of deputies it was discovered that Amanda Starner (37), of Newcomerstown, was traveling on SR 83 when her vehicle became caught in the flood water. Starner was able to make it out of the vehicle and to a safe place to await rescue. While rescuing Starner a second vehicle entered the water with a single occupant. Starner and the occupant of the second vehicle were recovered unharmed. SR 83 was shut down during the rescue and remained so after due to the level of flooding.
Assisting on scene were the Three Rivers Fire Department, Coshocton County EMS and the Coshocton County Drone.
Around 9:06 p.m. the sheriff’s office received a 911 call in reference to two vehicles in the flood water in the 24000 block of SR 751 in Adams Township.
Upon arrival of deputies, it was determined that there were two vehicles in the water. The first vehicle did not have any occupants. The second vehicle’s occupants were able to exit the vehicle prior to the deputies arrival. Once the deputy arrived, the occupants were safely rescued from the water, there were no injuries reported. SR 751 was shut down during the rescue and remained so after due to the level of flooding.
Also assisting on scene were West Lafayette Fire Department and Bakersville Fire Department.
At approximately 9:43 p.m. a 911 call was received advising that there was a car in the flood waters in the 45000 block of CR 19, in Clark Township.
Upon arrival of deputies, it was determined that a vehicle in the water had two occupants. The occupants were rescued with out incident and reported no injuries. CR 19 was shut down and remained closed after the rescue, due to the level of flooding.
Also assisting on scene were Coshocton County EMS, Holmes District 1 Fire and Ems and Walhonding Valley Fire District.
