Coshocton County represented at state wrestling tournament
The 2022 OHSAA State Wrestling Tournament returned to the Jerome Schottenstein Center in Columbus. The 85th annual tournament featured several area wrestlers. Coshocton was represented by Ethan Dixon in the division three 120 pound weight class. Ridgewood was represented in the division three tournament by Jesse Maple at the 132 pound weight class, and Xavier Lamneck at the 157 pound weight class. River View was represented by Cruz Mobley at the 215 pound weight class in the division two tournament.
Ethan Dixon (Coshocton) lost his opening bout to the returning state champion Dillon Campbell of Legacy Christion by technical fall. After dropping down to the consolation bracket Dixon was unable to get a late third period pin and lost to Eli Guyton of Milton in a 14-5 major decision.
Jesse Maple (Ridgewood) faced eventual state champion Hunter Long of Wayne Trace and lost by major decision 16-3. In the consolation bracket Maple lost by fall to Cristian Lecki of Milton Lake. Xavier Lamneck dropped his opening bout to eventual state finalist Jake Hurst of Mechanicsburg by major decision 11-2. Lamneck fended off multiple throw attempts in his first consolation match winning by decision 10-7 over Justin Fox of Waterloo. In the following consolation Lamneck lost a close decision to Dickie Engel of Reading by a score of 4-1.
Cruz Mobley (River View) dropped his opening bout to eventual state placer Steven Marra of West Branch by a 6-2 decision. Mobley battled back in his first consolation match to defeat Cayden Spotts of Ashland by decision 7-4. In the second consolation match the Mobley fell in a district rematch to eventual sixth place finisher Kaiden Haines of Minerva by major decision 15-4.
