Names released from Thursday evening accident

On March 17, at approximately 8:13 p.m. the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call in reference to an injury accident in 900 block of Main St., in the city of Coshocton.

Upon arrival of deputies an initial investigation found that a Coshocton male was driving east bound on Main Street when he lost consciousness causing his foot to press on the accelerator. The vehicle veered off the roadway at the intersection of East Main St. The vehicle continued over the curb at the address of 933 Main St. and into the residence of that address. All persons from that home were accounted for as unharmed in the accident.

The Coshocton male was pronounced deceased on scene. There was a Coshocton female who was a passenger in the vehicle. She was transported to CRMC where she was med-flighted to Akron General Hospital with unknown injuries.

The driver of this vehicle was 79-year-old Ronald McClain of Coshocton. Mr. McClain was pronounced deceased on scene by the Coshocton County Coroner. The passenger of this vehicle, 78-year-old Ellen L. McClain of Coshocton remains in critical condition at this time.

Also assisting on scene were Three Rivers Fire Department, Coshocton City Fire Department, Jackson Township Fire Department, Coshocton County EMS, React, Coshocton City Street Department and Prince’s Wrecker.
