Ronald Lee McClain

| March 23, 2022

Ronald Lee McClain, 79, of Coshocton, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2022 following an automobile accident. He was born on June 1, 1942 in Canton, to the late Rodney “Todd” and Sue (DiMinno) McClain.

Ron was part of the last graduating class of Fresno High School, class of 1960. He worked as a Cartographer at the Coshocton Court House, was a gas station attendant at Clarks, worked for the County Garage and finally retired from General Electric in 2002 after many years of service.

On May 6, 1972, Ron married the love of his life, Ellen (Titus) McClain who survives. He was a father of four but also a father of many more. He and Ellen were “adopted parents” to many kids over the years. Ron was a selfless man that brought out the best in everyone he met. He never knew a stranger and was always there when you needed him.  He was a behind the scenes guy, never wanting recognition for anything. His family was his life and strived to make their lives the best he possibly could. Ron was a very meticulous person when it came to keeping records and was extremely organized. In his younger days, Ron loved to drag race, on the back roads, which his children always found humor in hearing as they later named him “Mr. Magoo.” Mr. Magoo loved to take leisurely drives around town and out around the country, he also enjoyed exploring the car lots on Sundays.  He will be deeply missed by his loving family and friends and this world is a far better place because of him.

Along with his wife, Ellen, of 49 years, Ron is survived by his four children, Shawn (Lisa) McClain of Mansfield, Kevin (Tammy) McClain of Coshocton, Ronelle McClain of Zanesville and Joni (Richard Koch) McClain of Coshocton; five grandchildren, Caleb (Emily), Megan, Austin (Shania) Brennan and Colton; two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Nora; sister, Edie (Mike) Cogan of Canton and brother, Michael “Mick” (Lisa) McClain of Green, Ohio, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents Ron is preceded in death by his step-mother, Gerry McClain, brother, Bill McClain, and beloved in-laws, Clifford and Margaret Marie Titus.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, March 25, 2022 from 5:00 pm -8:00 pm at Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home and one hour prior to the funeral. Funeral services are Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 11:00 am at Canal Lewisville United Methodist Church with Judy Elliot officiating. Burial will follow at Canal Lewisville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, we know Ron would greatly appreciate you helping him continue on what was always his top priority, taking care of Ellen (Mom) and the family first by making contributions to the Go Fund Me Account https://gofund.me/3d7e99be. Contributions can also be made to the Canal Lewisville United Methodist Church Vacation Bible School Program. Helping the neighborhood children like Ron and Ellen always have done.
