Robert ‘Bob’ Steven James
Robert “Bob” Steven James, 85, of Dresden, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2022. He was born in Oak Park, Illinois on Oct. 9, 1936, to the late Harold Edward and Mariam (Abbott) James.
Bob graduated from Adamsville High School in 1955 and then joined the United States Army serving from 1958-1962 before being honorably discharged. One June 28, 1964, he married the love of his life, Eleanor (Poland) James who survives.
Bob worked for General Electric just shy of 30 years before retiring. He and his wife are members of Gospel Hill Church and he was a former member of Adamsville United Methodist Church. He was an ornery man who loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed reading, watching Westerns, and animals. He also helped his father refinish furniture years ago. Bob will be deeply missed by his loving family and friend.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor, of 57 years; three children, Steven James of Canoga Park, California, Phillip (Susan) James of Manvel, Texas and Suzan (Scott) Gambill of Westerville, Ohio; three grandchildren, Dustin, Matthew, and Lauren; and Terry Lynn and Tracey who he and his wife raised.
Along with his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his sister, Sally.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2022, from 6-8 p.m. at Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home, Coshocton. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 1, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Evangelist Ron Davis officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Lutheran Cemetery in Adamsville with military honors.
