Library to host free charter bus trip in August
The Coshocton Public Library will host a free charter bus trip on Saturday, Aug. 6, from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. in honor of the women’s suffrage movement. Trip attendees will visit two locations in Northeast Ohio that played a significant role in securing the vote for women.
The two locations will include the site of Sojourner Truth’s 1851 Woman’s Right Convention speech in Akron, and the home of Harriet Taylor Upton in Warren. Upton served as the President of the Ohio Women’s Suffrage Association for 18 years and was a founding member of the National League of Women Voters.
To register for this free program, sign up online at www.coshoctonlibrary.org or phone the library at 740-622-0956. Registration is open to adults of all ages and will be limited to 55 participants.
This trip was made possible through a grant from the American Library Association (ALA) with support from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the generosity of the William and Mary Ehrich Fund of the Coshocton Foundation.
