Traffic switch on State Route 16 announced
During the week of Oct. 3, motorists can expect a traffic switch on State Route 16. Shelly Co. is preparing to start work on a new two-mile zone between Cleveland Cliffs and Township Road 288.
While preparing the new zone and moving barrier wall, there will be a four-mile zone in place. Westbound traffic will continue to be maintained while preparing the new zone, as well as once the new zone is in place.
State Route 16 westbound will be maintained within the zone. All roads and driveways within the zone will be maintained. State Route 16 EB must continue to detour. The detour is: State Route 16 to State Route 60 to State Route 541 to State Route 16.
Westbound traffic will be traveling in the eastbound lane in the zone while the westbound lane is reconstructed.
Once the westbound lane is completed, State Route 16 will open to traffic in both directions sometime in December and remain open through the winter.
All outlined work is weather permitting.
