Schroer Group names new VP of human resources

| September 27, 2022

The Schroer Group (TSG) has appointed Cindy Gensamer as vice president of human resources for TSG, effective Nov. 1. Gensamer currently serves as vice president of Absolute Rehabilitation, a TSG company providing rehabilitation services to Altercare Centers and other skilled care and home health customers.

Gensamer brings an in-depth understanding to the new role, having served 30 years with TSG, 19 of which with Absolute Rehabilitation. A Licensed Nursing Home Administrator (LNHA) and Health Services Executive (HSE), she began her career with TSG in human resources as a staff coordinator and later served as the director of HR. Her proven success in these roles made her stand out as a qualified candidate to move on to assist Absolute as they advanced business in the areas of home health, temporary staffing, nurse aide training, and the therapy division.

She later focused solely on Absolute Rehabilitation, which grew under her leadership from 45 employees to approximately 1,500 including PRN employees. Initially, the company provided rehabilitation services exclusively to Altercare Centers. Gensamer led the expansion of rehab services to 63 external customers, including skilled nursing centers, outpatient clinics and home health services.

She also shares her experience and expertise with the rehabilitation profession as a community and national leader. Gensamer serves on the Ohio Board of Executives Long-Term Services and Supports (BELTSS) Board, the Advisory Committee for Kent State University’s Health Care Administrator Program, and is regularly featured as a presenter in nationwide forums on diverse rehabilitation topics. Gensamer earned her MBA from Malone University.

“Cindy brings proven leadership capabilities, including employee recruitment, staff development and team building, to her new post. We’re thrilled that she’s embraced the opportunity to now bring her talents to the entire TSG organization,” said Jerry Schroer Jr., CEO of The Schroer Group.

Schroer said both an internal and external search for Gensamer’s successor has begun and that all parties involved will ensure a smooth and seamless transition takes place.
