River View Senior Cayla Shrimplin recently earned her 1,000th dig in volleyball.  She is the third player in RV history to achieve this milestone.

“A dig is when you pass a ball off of a hit,” Shrimplin said.

As of this writing, she has 1,065 and has the second highest record in school history. She is hoping with the team starting tournament play on Oct. 19, she will earn even more and become the record holder.

She started playing volleyball in seventh grade. “I just enjoy being with all the girls and, some might think it’s crazy, but I love diving all over the floor to get balls.  Volleyball is a very big part of my life and has helped me in so many ways.”

“Just getting me involved in the school and getting me around a great group of girls that I can call my family. Knowing they’ll have my back through almost anything.”

Besides volleyball, Shrimplin is involved with Student Council, National Honor Society, Spanish Nation Honor Society, and plays softball. She is planning to attend college and wants to be a physician’s assistant.
