Ridgewood students plan holiday presentations
Ridgewood High School Performing Arts will present an evening of holiday entertainment on Thursday, Dec. 15th at 7 p.m. and during the school day in the afternoon for the senior citizens luncheon at Ridgewood High School.
The drama class will present two family-friendly Christmas plays together titled “Last Stop Til Christmas” and “The Ghost of Christmas Presents.” “Last Stop Til Christmas” will feature Keeley Carter as Angela, Andrew Clantz as Mr. Greysuit, Kylah Patterson as Mrs. Loudmouth, Corey Burt as Mr. Loudmouth, Sophia Dunn as Shopper, Liah Alloway as Mother, Kenzie Bice as Brat, Autumn Joyce as Goilfriend, Taven Dotson as Joisey, Emily Maple as Grandma, and LJ Grimmett as Grandpa.
In “The Last Stop Til Christmas” Angela, a woman filled with Christmas spirit named Angela, waits alone at the bus stop. Shortly, she is joined by a crowd of grumpy people who are too caught up in their own problems to see the joy in the season. With the help of some magical Christmas ornaments and a little good cheer, Angela is able to teach us all about a merry Christmas in this fun and heart-warming story. “In the The Ghost of Christmas Presents,” we join a line of disgruntled store patrons as they all attempt to return gifts in the week before Christmas. Between the overwhelmed store employees, an angry woman with a personal vendetta against the clerk, and a host of other carping Christmas customers, the returns department at Wallace & Sons is pretty light on holiday cheer. Suddenly a mysteriously familiar woman who seems to have a connection to the store and all the patrons appears to spread some wonder and joy. “The Ghost of Christmas Presents” welcomes community member and Triple Locks Theater alum Kathy Reid as Ma and features Deakkon Williamsson as Mr. Carlisle, Taven Dotson as Taylor, Charlotte Seibert as Frieda, Alaina Swiney as Beverly, Kyndall Stocker as Faye, and Mattalyn Kiser as Brooke.
Director Jill Collins said, “We are so excited to be working with Kathy Reid. Kathy has volunteered to be part of our musical audition panel for many years. It’s been very fun to watch our students share the stage with someone as professional and experienced as Kathy. These two short plays are so much fun, and we hope we can help bring some laughter and cheer into your holidays.”
The drama class will present the show in the afternoon during school for the senior citizens’ luncheon at Ridgewood High School. Any senior citizen who would like to attend the luncheon should call Ridgewood High School at 740-545-6345 to make a reservation. For the 7 p.m. show, tickets are $5 and will be available at the door. All proceeds go to paying for the rights to perform the show and to benefit the students in the performing arts program.
