Local woman competed on Cash Explosion show
After many years of buying scratch off lottery tickets, Susan Williams was in shock to hear she had been chosen from more than 50,000 entries to be on the Cash Explosion TV show.
She purchased a Cash Explosion scratch off ticket at the Bell Store on Second Street about six weeks ago. “I never in a million years dreamed my name would be drawn. I had actually left the ticket hanging on the refrigerator for several days before I finally dropped it off. My husband kept asking if I was going to send it in.”
“Every time I drop off tickets, I put his name on them. This time, I put mine. When I dropped the ticket off, they told me which night to watch Cash Explosion to see if my name was pulled. With football on, my husband said he would tape that episode, but we missed it. On Nov. 17, I got a phone call that my name had been chosen.”
Williams shared that the number 17 has significant meaning for her family. Her stepson passed away from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and he always wore 17 on his jerseys. When she was on the show, she picked the numbers 10 and 14 and chose number 17 for her last number. That 17 was a triple play and helped her to get into second place so she was one of the four people to play the cash challenge round. She would like everyone to watch the show on Saturday, Jan. 21 to see how she did.
“It was so much fun. The audience is really engaged as the show is taped and I was lucky enough to have a group of people with me.” Her husband, Vince, her best friend Barb Wilson, Terry Young, friends Tink and Joe Miller and her boss, Dr. Christy Nicely and her son, Tyler, were all in the audience cheering her on. The show was taped in Hilliard.
“It was such a roller coaster of emotions that day. I was excited. In awe that I was there. Nervous before they called my name to come out. And trying so hard not to cry on TV with everyone watching.”
Williams said everything just lined up that day, from favorite and lucky numbers to having so many people she loves being with her. “The crew was just awesome, and I went in with the idea that I was very grateful for what I would get. The whole experience was just wonderful. I would encourage everyone to keep sending in their tickets, because you never know when it could be your turn. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience.”
