Max Ervin Patterson

Max Ervin Patterson, age 85, of West Lafayette, passed away on Friday, February 3, 2023 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born on April 17, 1937 in Orange, Ohio to the late John and Mary (Stonebrook) Patterson.

After graduating from West Lafayette High School in 1956, Max joined the United States Navy serving his country proudly from 1957 to 1962. On July 11, 1959, he married Marilyn (Touvell) Patterson who survives.

Max attended Isleta United Methodist Church when he was younger and was a member of the American Legion in Newcomerstown. He loved to tinker with anything that had a motor, especially refurbishing Massey-Harris tractors with his brother, Tom and old cars. He truly enjoyed working, whether it was masonry work or helping his sons build things together. He was a wonderful wood worker who loved building beautiful furniture and enjoyed going to antique tractor shows and spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marilyn Patterson; two sons, Duane (Kristy) Patterson and Michael (Fiancé Amber) Patterson both of West Lafayette; eight grandchildren, Kara (Nathan) Kenworthy, Travis (Becky) Patterson, Dustin (Danielle) Patterson, Kylie (Craig) Patterson, Paige Patterson, Dalton Patterson, Brandon Howell and Brady Howell; eight great-grandchildren, Thea, Ellie, Oliver, Abigail, Shelby, Asa, Zoey and Linc; and six siblings, Chet (Margret) Patterson of Florida, Tom (Joan) Patterson, Patty Blickenderfer, Ellen Pickrell, Susan Patterson, all of West Lafayette and Doris Mellor of North Carolina.

Along with his parents, Max is preceded in death by his siblings, Jackie, Margie, Bill, Johnny, Larry, Keith, and Earl.

Calling hours were held on Thursday, February 9, 2023, from 5:00 pm to 7:00pm at Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, February 10, 2023, at 11:00 am with Pastor Dan Eggan officiating. Burial will follow at Fairfield Cemetery with military honor being conducted by the Coshocton County Veterans Council Honor Guard.
