“The Coshocton Elks 376 Charities is proud to have established a charitable fund with the Coshocton Foundation. The monies contributed to the fund will be used for worthy projects which aid our communities, schools and organizations in Coshocton County”, said Brian Crilow, one of the fund advisors. “This fund shows and demonstrates that Elks Care and Elks Share, which our members strongly stand behind and believe. We wish to thank the Coshocton Foundation for their guidance and assistance in the establishment of this charitable fund.”

Friends and family of Brian Reiss contributed to the recently created Brian Reiss Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Coshocton Foundation. Reiss graduated from River View High School in 1978 and went on to work at AK Steel and later Greer Steel, where he finished his career as plant manager with a team he admired and friendships he valued. His passions in life included being a positive mentor and helping to develop people to reach their full potential.

High school seniors who intend to enter the vocational trades after graduation are eligible to apply for the scholarship, which will first be offered in 2024. Finalists will be selected based on their demonstrated character, commitment to their trade, the strength of their application and responses to thought-provoking essay-type questions. Reiss’ family will assist in the selection of the Brian Reiss Memorial Scholarship recipients.

The Coshocton Foundation was established in 1966 through the last will and testament of local merchant Adolph Golden and has distributed more than $9 million in grants to community organizations from its unrestricted fund. In addition, the foundation has 175 restricted funds from which distributions are made for specific purposes. More information about the Coshocton Foundation can be found at www.coshoctonfoundation.org.
