Tiverton Institute is set to return
After a long absence due to COVID, the Tiverton Institute is returning on Wednesday and Thursday, March 1-2. Organizer Dee Smith said, “We’ve had so many people ask about whether we were having it or not, but it’s a go and we are so happy and excited to be able to do this again.”
This is the 120th anniversary of the institute. Coffee and donuts will be served at 10 a.m. each morning and the first speaker will begin at 10:30 a.m. A covered dish lunch will be served at noon and then the afternoon sessions will start at 1 p.m. There are sessions each evening beginning at 7 p.m. A light supper that includes soup, sandwiches, salad, dessert, and drinks will be held on Thursday at 4 p.m. The cost of the supper is a donation.
All sessions are free, but a donation box will be out for the coffee and donuts and they will “pass a hat” after each session. The money they raise will help with the upkeep of the building, paying bills and buying supplies.
The theme this year is “Welcome Back.” A few of the speakers are Sheriff Jim Crawford, Sam Bennett, Alice Hoover, and Dick McCain. A program will be passed out with a schedule at the institute.
The building is located at the intersection of State Route 206 and County Road 20. For more information, please call Smith at 740-502-5289.
