Armstrong to speak at next Lenten Lunch
The Lenten Lunches 2023 theme, Matters of the Heart, was chosen by Pastor Dick Hoover. He suggests, “It focuses on the spiritual condition of the human heart – the inner person. The Scripture reminds us to trust the Lord with all our heart, and not lean on our own understanding.”
The time schedule for the luncheons is: 11:45 a.m. – Welcome, prayer and meal time; 12:25 p.m. – Hymn, scripture, and special music; 12:35 p.m. – Introduction of the speaker and meditation by the pastor; and 12:50 p.m. – Benediction by the pastor of the day.
The next lunch will be held Wednesday, March 1, at The Presbyterian Church, 142 N. Fourth St. The next speaker will be Pastor Mark Armstrong from The Presbyterian Church. He will focus on “The Broken Heart” Matthew 11:28 & Psalm 34:17-18.
Armstrong grew up in Memphis Tennessee and graduated from Belhaven University [Jackson, Mississippi] with a BA in Community Development. In 1992 he graduated from seminary at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Austin Texas with a M.Div. Since then, he has served as an associate pastor and a solo pastor in the PC (USA) denomination in several states, including Pennsylvania, Virginia and Louisiana. Since Jan. 15, he is the senior pastor of The Presbyterian Church. Armstrong has four grown daughters, and likes to play Pickleball. Elder Debbie Clark will be the presenter and the soloist for the luncheon, and Alice Hoover, organist at church, will be the pianist.
The luncheons offer soup, crackers, vegetables, cheese, pie/cake, coffee and water. A $5 donation is suggested, which goes to Church Women United for
their “clothe a child” project. Christa Ciotola, who has enjoyed the luncheons for several years, is the enthusiastic new coordinator of the meals.
All are invited to join in this Coshocton tradition.
