Shontz Family Auction and Dinner set at RVHS

| March 2, 2023

Jim Ford and Brock Jones friends of Wesley Shontz and Shannon Shontz who lost their sons Wesley and Collin in a car accident in December are seeking donations for a benefit auction and dinner to help the family.

“We are getting more things for the auction every day,” Ford said. “We have received donations from the Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Reds, the Cleveland Cavaliers, Pittsburg Steelers, and Akron Rubber Ducks. We have gotten tickets from some of them. The Steelers sent a signed autographed picture and Cleveland Browns sent an autographed item. From local businesses we have donations of furniture, bookshelves, gift cards, a garage door opener, and a marble countertop vendor donated a $500 gift card. We have donations from all over, something for everyone for sure. We have about 200 items right now.”

Texas Roadhouse donated 500 rolls for the spaghetti dinner. Volunteers from the Nazarene Church who have done this before and an employee from River View cafeteria will prepare the meal at River View High School.

“Probably about 100 people have volunteered their help,” Ford said. “It’s been a tremendous outpouring of support.”

The dinner is by free will offering from 3-5 p.m. in the high school cafeteria with the auction beginning at 5 p.m. in the auditorium. They will be taking donations for the auction right up to auction day.

The Shontz Family Auction and Dinner will be at River View High School on Sunday, March 26. If you would like to help in any way, by volunteering your time or a donation call Jim Ford at 330-447-9806 or Brock Jones at 330-243-0020.
