Robert  Luther  Mickelson

Robert  Luther  Mickelson, age 93, of Worthington, formerly of Coshocton, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023. He was born on February 20, 1930, in Freeborn County, Minnesota to the late Luther and Olive (Tuft) Mickelson.

Bob graduated from St. Olaf College in Minnesota in 1951, with a degree in Chemistry.  He joined the United States Army, serving his country from 1953 to 1955. He moved to Cambridge, Ohio to work for Vanadium Corporation, and soon met Louise Mitchell. They were married on June 23, 1957. Bob and Louise started their family, and eventually moved to Coshocton, Ohio where they lived for 44 years. In 2014, they moved to the Columbus area.

Bob was a Metallurgist for 40 years. He was employed by Foote Mineral Corporation, Clow Corporation, and Burnham Corporation. He was an Elder and Deacon at the Presbyterian Church in Coshocton, and a life member of the Elks. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles and meeting new people. He and Louise played Bridge, traveled, and enjoyed caring for their home and working in their yard. While in Columbus, Bob and Louise attended All Shepherds Lutheran Church. Bob was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a man of deep faith, and he shared this with his family.

Bob is survived by his three children, Beverly (Jeff) Ross of Dublin, Steven (Alison) Mickelson of Naperville, IL and Linda (Pete) Hores of Coshocton; seven grandchildren, Katie (Ty) Holdcroft, Mike (Kelley) Ross, Melissa (Dean Katamanin) Mickelson, Matt (Sarah) Ross, Julia (Cody Lipsin) Mickelson, Derek (Serena) Mickelson and Eric Hores; five great-grandchildren, Lena Holdcroft, Liam Ross, Graham Ross, Jameson Ross, and Cooper Robert Ross; and many nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his loving wife Louise, who passed away on February 18, 2022; his brother, Gerald (Darlene) Mickelson and sister, Marjorie (Bernard) Hoium.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 16, 2023 from 3:00 – 4:00 pm at All Shepherds Lutheran Church, 6580 Columbus Pike, Lewis Center.  A Memorial Service will follow at 4:00 pm, with Pastor Wendy Richter officiating.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, April 17, 2023 at 11:00 am at Roscoe Cemetery in Coshocton, Ohio. Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home is serving the family.

The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Kemper House as well as Capital City Hospice for the love and kindness they gave Bob.
