Come walk a mile in their shoes
Danika Bertschy Vickers, a sophomore at River View High School is sponsoring an event which is very dear to her heart. This event called, Walk a Mile in Their Shoes, will be held on Wednesday, May 3 at 6 p.m. at the court square.
“We hope to bring awareness to the issues of rape, sexual assault, and gender violence,” Vickers said. “This is a walking event where men walk in women’s heels and women walk in combat boots around the court square for a mile. There is a saying, ‘You can’t understand someone until you walk in their shoes.’”
Raffle tickets will be available to purchase where you can win donated items from local businesses in the community. They are a $1 a ticket or $5 for an arm’s length.
Registration is $5 to participate. A limited number of t-shirts still available to purchase at the event. Checks can be made payable to First Step Family Violence Intervention Services, Inc. of Coshocton. Send donations to First Step Family Services, 647 Locust St., Coshocton, OH 43812.
